Hi, and welcome to the forums.
You need to get rid of that awful WD software. At the least, unlock it or remove the password. I hate to tell you this, but apparently it's quite involved. And you have to download both a firmware update and another piece of software (a VCD manager). Here's the elaborate instructions: http://www.marccizravi.com/2010/remove-wd-smartware/ You may have a workaround, though. Erase your Mac's internal HD with Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder), and install OSX. When it starts up, +Setup Assistant+ will ask if you want to transfer your information, but you can't do that, either. Set up a temporary user account (don't use the same user name as before). When your Mac starts again, connect to the drive and enter the password. Then start +Migration Assistant+ in Applications/Utilities, and transfer everything from your backups. Good luck!
Download VCD Manager VirtualCDManagerv1003.zip for Mac to your desktop. Unzip the utility and double click to open. Click Continue to disable the VCD. Click Accept the End User's License Agreement (EULA). Click Drive to configure and select your drive. Verify desired Virtual CD setting. Once the utility has found your drive, click Configure Drive.
Following your directions, I ran

WD SmartWare Uninstaller.app. This time, it immediately stopped, reporting that 'An unknown error occured.'
Again, I ran
WD SmartWare Installer For Mac.app, version 1.3.4.6.
Again, it did not offer any uninstall option.
So, I asked it to REINSTALL SmartWare. This proceeded promptly to completion, reported success, launched the Smartware app, and began classifying files. I quit the application

I again ran WD SmartWare Installer For Mac.app, version 1.3.4.6, and this time it DID offer an uninstall option, which I chose. This time, it ran promptly to completion and reported success. Smartware-related items in Application Support and in LaunchDaemons were removed. BUT
/System/Library/Extensions/WD1394HPDriver.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/WDUSBHPDriver.kext
WERE NOT REMOVED.

Either the uninstaller does not work properly, or the uninstaller leaves those files in place for a reason. I don't know how to tell which it is. The files in question are copyright Western Digital, but this directory normally does contain some third-party files, for example, a bunch of ATTO drivers. Google does not find me any clear descriptions of what these files do.

Can you confirm that your system, which does not contain these files, DOES contain an external Western Digital drive and that it works properly without them?
